05.03.10, Vulcan.NET Training CD
Dieter Crispien says: "Over the years a companion CD to my Vulcan.NET training courses has been developed.
This CD has been polished up for general use. It's now publicly available, meaning: You no longer have to
book training days to get to dozens of Vulcan.NET code examples and a 300 pages documentation. A new homepage
has full information on VNT CD (and it's completely in English!): www.vnt.vulcandotnet.de The German edition will
start shipping on March 15th, 2010. An English edition is in works. The projected release date is May 19th, 2010.

DevShare, the learning event organized by the Bristol and London User Group members, keeps getting

be there. Alywn Jennings-Bramly will preview is upcoming book on Vulcan.NET. Dieter Crispien plans

08.09.09, New trial version of Vulcan.NET
The Vulcan.NET Trial Version has been updated, now at build 157. It includes updates in sync with
VO 2.8 SP2a, enhancements to Visual Studio Intellisense, and a VO compatible menu editor. To try
out the new trial version select the Trial Version menu option on
govulcan.net and follow the links.
29.08.09, Conference: VODC 2009 - Stuttgart, November 11-13
Last year's VODC in Hamburg presented sessions on Vulcan.NET at ambitious levels. Attendance levels
ranged from beginners - just having started their first steps or even planning to do so - to advanced
Vulcan experts. And all of them found a rich choice of sessions: three days fully packed with 40(!)
sessions, mostly four concurrent. And this year's conference in Stuttgart will have quite the same.
When driving into unfamiliar regions you will happily use a navigation system to find your best way.
And for your way into your future as a software developer? We are sure a conference like VODC is a
perfect means to make good progress!

There is a new version of VIDE, the alternative development environment for Vulcan, available for download.
This version is 0.88, and can be downloaded from http://www.govulcan.net by selecting

Vn2Ado is the successor for Vo2Ado for Vulcan.NET. Its main purpose is to help people migrate their Visual Objects
applications to DotNet. It is not intended to be a replacement for Ado.Net.

The trial version of Vulcan.NET has been updated to build 154. Features include the ability to declare interfaces, and
hybrid classes that allow VO GUI-style windows to be used in Windows Forms applications, and Windows Forms to be used in
VO GUI-style applications. The current VOPS build is 155, with 156 due soon.

This is probably the most exciting Vulcan.NET build released to date as many milestones were met in this build,
available to VOPS subscribers.
This build's feature set includes the following...

* Hybrid Support. (Calling VOGUI windows from a WinForm Window with Menu Strip. This feature allows for a gradual transition

25.11.08, German Conference: VODC 2008
This year's VODC in Hamburg, Germany, was one of the most enthusiastic conferences for Vulcan.NET to date. Thanks go out to
Dieter Crispien's group for an excellent job, and to all of the speakers who came up with some really exciting topics.
Also thanks to the attendees, who have showed excellent progress with their Vulcan.NET applications.
Fabrice Foray's Vulcan.NET Plug-in for Reflector, is now capable of taking a C# project converting it to Vulcan.NET and
outputting a complete VS2008 Vulcan.NET solution.
Willie Moore opened a lot of eyes showing how easy it is to get started in Vulcan.NET as well as a showing a great
Vulcan.NET / ASP demo.
Dieter showed us several exciting applications that he is working on for a very large Fortune 500 company based in the US
with extensive operations in Germany.
We also had a new speaker this year, Al Acker, who shared his experiences with Vulcan.NET.
Many of the VODC regulars were in attendance, and even Michael Fischer showed up with only a half of a voice due to a cold/flu.

Kommentar: Vielleicht wundert sich manch einer, dass dies eine Info für Vulcan.NET Anwender ist. Noch mehr hätten Sie sich
sicher gewundert, wenn die Überschrift gelautet hätte 'Microsoft liefert Update zu Vulcan.NET'. Aber es ist wirklich so! Die Entscheidung von
GrafX, Visual Studio als Entwicklungsumgebung für Vulcan.NET zu verwenden (=in Lizenz zu nehmen), beinhaltet eben auch, dass alle
Vulcan.NET Anwender von der Arbeit des MS-Entwicklerteams am Visual Studio profitieren (Für Visual Objects muss diese Arbeit komplett
vom GrafX-Entwicklerteam geleistet werden!). Danke nochmals an GrafX für diese goldrichtige Entscheidung.
04.08.08, Verwendung von VO-Fenstern und .NET Windows Forms in einer Anwendung
GrafX stellt eine neue Assembly VulcanVOWinForm für Vulcan.NET zur Verfügung. Diese enthält neue Klassen, mit denen man
- VO GUI-Fenster in Anwendungen verwenden kann, die auch .NET Windows Forms nutzen
- .NET Windows Forms in Vulcan.NET-Anwendungen integriert werden können, die auf (transportierter) VO GUI basieren
Anders ausgedrückt: Man kann vorhandene VO Datawindows in eine Anwendung integrieren, die ein .NET MDI Shellwindow enthält.
Oder man erweitert eine transportierte VO-Anwendung mit .NET Windows Forms.
Diese Klassen bieten damit sehr einfache Möglichkeiten ganz nach Belieben alte und neue Fentertypen zu mischen. Der Übergang von
VO-Klassen zu den Klassen des .NET Framework kann damit allmählich vorgenommen werden.
Für VOPS-Teilnehmer steht die VulcanVOWinForm-Assembly incl. Beispielen zum Download bereit. Diese Beispiele sind auch in den
folgenden PDF-Dateien beschrieben:

17.07.08, Neues Beispiel: Virtuelle DataGridView
Ein neues Beispiel zeigt, wie man eine .NET DataGridView im virtuellen Modus einsetzt, um große DBF-Dateien anzuzeigen.
Das Beispiel kann von GoVulcan.net heruntergeladen werden. Siehe im Examples-Menu und dann unter More Samples.
10.07.08, Advantage Vulcan RDD als Betaversion verfügbar
Das Advantage-Entwicklerteam stellt eine Betaversion des RDDs für Vulcan.NET zur Verfügung. Es wird darauf hingewiesen, dass
dieser RDD nur zusammen mit Advantage 9.0 eingesetzt werden darf. Auch sollte die neueste Version von Vulcan.NET-Version (also 1.1.151.0)
erwendet werden, da diese Bugfixes enthält, die sich auf den Advantage RDD beziehen. Das Installationsprogramm für den Advantage RDD
kann hier downgeloadet werden. Dieses enthält auch die neuesten VO RDDs (version 9.0) und den ACE Client.
02.07.08, Neue und verbesserte Version von Vulcan IDE verfügbar
Die neue Version der beliebten VIDE kann man auf govulcan.net

24.06.08, Neue und verbesserte Vulcan.NET Demo-Version 1.1.151
GrafX veröffentlicht eine neue Version, die man auf govulcan.net
finden kann - eine neue Erweiterung der drei Monate zuvor veröffentlichten Version 1.1. Diese kann als Demo-Version heruntergeladen werden.
Wer eine ältere Vollverson mit Seriennummer hat, kann diese als Update installieren.
Die Liste der gefixten Bugs ist lang (ca. 50 Einträge). Vor allem wurde jedoch die Integration in Visual Studio 2005/2008 verbessert,
indem vor allem Intellisense hinzugefügt wurde.
05.06.08, Die Application Gallery auf govulcan.net wurde erweitert
Zwei Beispiele von Vulcan-Projekten wurden hinzugefügt: Image Tools von BEST Consultancy in England und Business Anwendungen

3.-6.06.08, Microsoft TechEd in Orlando, Florida
Als Microsoft VSIP Partner präsentiert GrafX die neueste Vulcan.net-Version.
Etwa 6000 Teilnehmer aus aller Welt nehmen an der Konferenz teil. Vulcan.net wurde vielen Interessenten präsentiert, die
bisher nichts davon gehört hatten. GrafX arbeitet jetzt eng mit Microsoft zusammen, um
vor allem FoxPro-Anwender nach Vulcan zu bringen. In Deutschland gibt es Anwendergruppen, die
an einem "Transporter" für Xbase++ arbeiten (xBase++ ist ein Windows-Produkt von Alaska Software)
26.04.08, Vulcan.NET wird in der Microsoft Visual Studio Gallery genannt
Die Visual Studio Gallery ist eine Internetseite von Microsoft, die sich mit
Programmiersprachen, Tools und Erweiterungen beschäftigt, die zusmamen mit Visual Studio verwendet werden können. Vulcan.net
wird dort in der Rubrik Programmiersprachen vorgestellt. Ein Video
("Beginning with Vulcan.NET") wird ebenfalls dort angeboten.
17.04.08 Neue Beispiele
Neue Beispiele sind auf govulcan.net verfügbar. Unter anderem finden Sie dort jetzt
ein Orders-Beispiel, das die .NET Framework-Klassen verwendet und Ado.NET und den Microsoft Visual Foxpro OLEDB-Provider. Ein anderes
Beispiel zeigt wie man cPop und verwandte Klassen in den von VO nach Vulcan portierten Versionen einsetzt, um Message-Header von E-Mails
in einer Windows Forms-Anwendung anzuzeigen.
25.03.08 Visual Studio 2008 - Vulcan.NET Edition
Von Visual Studio 2008 gibt es nun auch eine Vulcan.NET Edition. Diese kann man auch auf
govulcan.net im Bereich Trial Version downloaden.
Wer schon eine Standard-, Professional- oder Team-Version von Visual
Studio besitzt, benötigt diese Version nicht, da sich Vulcan schon in diese Versionen automatisch bei der Installation integriert.
Visual Studio 2008 - Vulcan.NET Edition ist für diejenigen Vulcan-Anwender gedacht, die noch kein Visual Studio 2008 besitzen.
23.03.08 Vulcan.NET 1.1 Test-Version im März 2008
Die Vulcan.NET 1.1 Test-Version wurde aktualisiert und enthält nun

03.01.08 Neue Anwendungen in der Application Gallery
In der Application Gallery auf govulcan.net werden Anwendungen von
ServiceGO! Srl und SoftDevo gezeigt. Diese Anwendungen behandeln die Themen Information Management und Reporting, sowie
Bildmanipulation und -speicherung. Auch hier kann man davon lernen, wie andere es in Vulcan.net machen. Sehr interessante
Anwendungen mit aussagekräftigen Screenshots.
09.11.07 Chris Pyrgas wird Mitglied des Vulcan-Entwicklerteams
Noch während der letztjährigen Vulcan-Konferenz in München wird Chris Pyrgas Mitglied des
Vulcan.NET Development Team. Nur zwei Jahre zuvor hatte er sein weltweites Redner-Debüt auf der VODC in Köln.
Chris Pyrgas wird unter anderem einige VO-kompatible Editoren schreiben, die in Vulcan.NET 2.0 in VS 2008 integriert werden sollen.
